The Overland Park Host Lions Club is a local chapter of Lions International, the largest community service organization with over 1,400,000 members and 43,000 clubs worldwide. The club was chartered during 1956 by local citizens. Lions International was founded in Chicago during 1917 by Melvin Jones. In 1925 Helen Keller charged the Lions to become "Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness". Since that time Lions have been primarily focused on sight preservation and activities supporting visually impaired individuals. Our moto is, "We Serve". |
